Moderator's note: This thread was split off from the original thread: PA M-113s with gatling guns!!!

=== ~~~ ===

The one mounted on the reported M113 is not so much of a gatling gun but closer, its an M39A3 20mm Revolving Cannon that the Army got from the grounded F5's. Firing 1,700 rounds/min,you cannot ask for more.

Dang . . . the PA made good on their expressed plans to replicate the the PMC did with excess PN weaponry. PA personnel reportedly shared these plans with PMC folks at the ASEAN summit last year -- where the 40mm AA mounts were diplayed outside Metro Manila for the first time.

Any chance you can share photos of the M113s with the guns Mr H?  thumbs up

Now everybody is getting into the act. Nice development.  PN working closely with PMC.  PA working with PAF excess armaments. Indeed, necessity is the mother of all inventions.

Can we get somebody like mblt6 from the Army to share with us their projects?

Adroth, time to mobilize your inner circle so we can get a peek at PA's exciting innovations and SRDP projects.

PN according to Manokski:

PAF according to Ramon J. Farolan:
"we are now basically a helicopter fleet"
PA according to drkula

Whatever access we have to an "inner circle" is actually via one of the participants of the original MBAC project. We've already pinged him . . . but he hasn't been online the past couple of days.

At any rate, we have Hellstrom with us.  beer

Please be patient, I'm still badgering some friends to produce the pictures. It's a hell of a weekend looking for the pictures from our local news agencies but I think they're as surprised that they failed to raise their cameras.

If we could get to somehow use those 20 mm cannons on our F-5s & F-8s on our land vehicles instead of having them rust away somewhere, not only would it mean great savings for the AFP, but provide superior firepower also.  Those terrorrists will find that concrete walls will not be sufficient protection for them anymore against the AFP, much more against less sturdy cover.

Like has been discussed before, not all the F-5 guns are going to waste.  Some are being transferred to the OV-10s.

Yeah, I'll have to dig around for that later.  I'll probably find there what happened to the Crusader's 4 20 mm guns per plane .....

Some OV-10s have 20mm gun pods. See below. If remember correctly, these gun pods are also using 20mm cannons from the retired F-5s

Wow... more than enough indeed! The high ROF of the gun should make this a very devastating addition to the ground forces!

Sir Adroth, maybe those gun pods that aren't using the F-5 cannons are already using those from the F-8s?
