So I finally had to admit that I suck at building A/C models. The canopies @$#!% balls. I can never adhere it without making the glue crawl throughout.

So I'm back to what I think I'm better at.

Trucks.... and other soft skins.

This is the beginnings of my M925.......

It should be towing a howitzer later on.

-----------------------------------

Separate thing,

Did this kind of truck ever operate with the AFP?

Hi Mondo,

I could be wrong, but I believe that the M925 shelter variant was not used by PA. Photos show the troop carrier version to tow the Soltam, without the front winch to save on costs.

The WW2 era truck you are building with solid cab was used by PA post war, along with the Tamiya version with canvas roof cover. Winch versions rarely seen. They are still in use with new engines, hauling sugar canes in the provinces.

Nope, not building the shelter version. It will be built without it. But that's the only kit available of the M925.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thanks about the 2.5t truck. I'll be building the PA version later.

Hi Mondo,

Wish I had photos of the post-war AFP PA trucks with bumper codes for your GMC truck. I guess it is safe to use BCT markings; like the ones sent by PEFTOK to Korea like the 10th, 14th, 19th BCT, etc.

Thanks for the info on the truck's designation SBHNTR, wish I had the chance to take the front portion of that PA truck. Maybe it is in the local newspapers archives; or perhaps with Phil. Army PIO?

Kinda late in the build to consider taking out the winch. So on with the build despite it.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Coupmander Y,

I built that kit a long time ago and the HEMTT version as well.

The problems are the wheels. They're not quite right dimensionally or detailwise. It should be the aggressive pattern by goodyear. Good thing is Tankworkshop has a resin replacement that costs $25 compared to the $30 cost of the kit. I got a set.

Hi COUPMander Yoda,

The AFP has the gulf-war 1 era Hemitt truck in service? What unit is using it and what configuration/color scheme?

Jepot - bro, ngayon lang din ulit ako nakakapag gawa ng ayos. Beezeee din. But unlike you, I don't have blood in my hands.  Laughing I'll dedicate this build to you.

Coupmander Y - I'm also interested in the M998 fuel tanker in Atienza. What shade of yellow or any other markings. Pics or it didn't happen.

WeekWar - In my relatives' sugar farm in Negros, it was more of Isuzu types that roam around. Any idea of the colors of the GMC trucks now? Maybe I can model one with a crazy overloaded cargo.

I'm planning to have a howitzer towed by this M925, but the Italeri kit is not the upgraded howitzers we have. Do we still operate those old howitzers?

MB,

I was with tausugair at that time, we both saw it.  The yellow is a bit dark in shade.  The scheme is so uninteresting to me that is why I did not bother to even take an image of it.

Hi Mondo,

The WW2 trucks I saw (canvas roof version) I saw in both Bacolod and Luzon were painted yellow; the original engines were replaced with Japanese ones. Ang bigay ng sugar cane, the truck beds were almost at the ground level due to the weight. I also saw a GMC truck with front winch (open cab) being used by a molasses plant near Calatagan a few years ago.

Military vehicle owners say that there are still a few Willys, Weapons Carriers and GMC trucks in the provinces used for farming.......

Hi CoupMander Yoda,

Did TausugAir take photos of it? It would be nice to add to our AFP vehicles database, as photo proof.

If it was painted yellow, maybe it was designed as an airfield firefighter. Hindi kaya desert sand ng gulf war 1 that faded to yellow?

He also did not bother to take a photo of it.  I plan to return again with "hans"...hopefully this coming November.

Next time I'll take a photo of it.
