if you liked this thread (like I did). http://timawa.net/forum/index.php?topic=3602.0  beer

It would inspire you to build something related to it in 1/72  Very Happy

This strated out as a Pegasus Hobbies LCVP. Pang war-gaming siya kaya kulang sa details. Kaya I added some in order to compensate.

I added a 1/87 Roco M151 Mutt Jeep sa bay ng LCVP para hindi naman mukhang bare sa loob.

I would have to thank Jepot again for this one.

Regards to all

Thanks guys,

The idea for the cables and ropes came from other built up models that I saw in the 'net while doing my reasearch on this boat.

I weathered this using oil paints: burnt sienna yata yung color for the rust, and they have a black color that really looks like oil stains ag inapply.

mojo, i hope and pray you can share with us how you actually applied the weathering. Galing! If you didn't tell us, I would not have guessed that was paint applied to simulate rusting and less-than-perfect maintenance.

The LCVPs hulls are not made of metal though...mostly wood so they don't really rust.  Some PN ones are fiberglass.

Maybe a local copy made of steel then?  The one's I've seen on PN LSTs were made of wood but that certainly does not mean that all of them are.
It would be interesting to find out what the one's carried by the PN LSV's are made of since those appear to be of new construction.

Old WW2 LCVP Higgins boats were wood though. (http://www.geocities.com/eco16thinf/LCVP.html)

The rust was simulated using "burnt sienna" mixed with black oil paint. If you use oil paint thin it down to a the consistency of a "wash"

Hi Manoksi,

I've though long and hard about the material with which the orignal LCVP was made of. During my research (mostly thorugh the 'net) I read that LCVPs were also made of wood and the newer ones with FG.

When the time came to paint the boat I opted to follow the info that I got from Doc Jep.

I understand...thanks for the explanation.  It's certainly a nice looking model, made moreso by the fact that it's not a common modeling subject.  Hope you post more of your work here.  We do certainly appreciate it.
