On hindsight . . . I should have separated the challenge from the thread, so that it would have been more prominent. That way the folks who might have been willing to help could have seen it.

Lesson learned.

Shall we dance again on the 6th of August? mil wink Ayan, mahaba ang lead time.

Here is jetmech again raising the challenge...

So to all those who talk, groan, gripe and complain ang mouth of inanities related or not to the thread,

HERE IS YOUR CHANCE AGAIN- PROVE YOUR WORTH...

As I have said, if you read the more sensible stuff and stickies here, you would understand what I mean - and the sheer frustration of the mods and the more well meaning members of the Timawa community...

As far as I know, I have donated to UNICEF and World Vision. It is not a big amount, but it helps. I also know that my donations reached their intended recipients.

Forgive me for asking this, but who can commit to an anonymous? The challenge is well-meant, but it is not as simple as asking for commitments.

But I am giving my commitment. I am not rich, but I am committing 500 pesos, equivalent to my weekly allowance. It should start somewhere.

I know the risk that Jetmech is taking. And by the sound of it, his pocket is quite deep. Well, not everyone else's pocket is as deep.

Being the mods of this forum, I believe that you have significant connections with the defense department and the military. I believe that you are in the best position to establish an NGO who will co-manage a joint account with the Department of National Defense for the modenization of the AFP. This is where we will send our contributions. Contibutions need not be big.

This NGO decides on what the AFP should buy using money from this account.

Politicians who has "supported" the AFP Modernization will be asked to donate.

I guess, this is a more realistic approach.

The defilbullator is quite expensive. Maybe we can start with something less expensive, like supplies of medicines, gauze and syringes. Hell, even a box of paracetamol is a good enough start.

My 500-peso commitment stands.

The commitments people may want to make may not necessarily be financial.  Time, talent or what have you is also welcome.

Indeed comitting to an unknown is kinda risky- but we all started out that way.  As Adroth would always say, check out the first project we made- MBAC. its a sticky and read it if you wish and try to grasp the concept of how the challenge worked before.

You would be surprised but what you are suggesting of an NGO, politicians, etc is more complicated than you can ever imagine.  Sometimes, the simplest appraoch is still the best appraoch.

I think I stated, no collection until the item/s is/are received by intended recipients (BNS NAVHOSP c/o Jep).  At the end, it becomes a collective effort, nothing more.

..not deep, just commited. I wish it was deep cause there are a lot more things I can do and provide, then. beer

Have read the MBAC. I can see that it was a success.  Bravo

I admit I haven't read it before. The title is simply not interesting.  Smile

What makes the MBAC different from the defibullator? The cost? Well, I hope my 500-peso donation will not be scoffed at.

No amount is ever too little.  thumbs up

In any relationship, trust must be nurtured. When engaging in a fund-raising relationship, small starter contributions are actually expected.

Note the standard disclaimers for anyone who decides to participate:

- The TDG is not a registered charity. Therefore donations are not tax deductable.

- Participants should not expect anything in return beyond a simple thank you from the donation recipients.

a form po ba ang time and talent as i understand it Sir Adroth is like these?

IT professional
- provide free training on computers during weekends to the certain members of AFP. Pwedeng sa network security.

Communication Majors(Masscom, Comm, Devcomm)
- help in producing training videos, provide camera(1 still and motion, not necessarily top of the line basta digital lang na pro-sumer level) at 1 NLE machine ang AFP, tapos list ng common task ng sundalo(i.e. how assemble/disassemble and cleaning an M16 rifle and zeroing sights).

The scenario you described is more aligned with saver111's profession-based reservist service idea. Its a mode of operation that would definitely benefit the AFP.

Jetmech's challenge, like other Timawa projects, is project-based.

Just for everyone's reference, the current top priority project is related to this:

http://timawa.net/forum/index.php?topic=8792.0

Timelines are short, so if anyone is else is interested please give the mods a PM.

PMs will go out, later today, to those who have already signified interest.
