Four-Oh-Niner, this is Alakdan-Five... Do you copy [craaack]

Alakdan-Five, This is Four-Oh-Niner, go ahead... You're loud and clear.  What is your location, Over?[craaack]

Four-Oh-Niner, I'm approaching Sector Nine.  We'll advice when subject is in sight, Over.[craaack]

Alakdan-Five... copy on that.  Proceed to objective with extreme prejudice.  Four-Oh-Niner out.[craaack]

Philippine Army's FV101 Scorpion, assigned with the old 4th Light Armor Coy (4LAC) of Light Armor Brigade (LABde) at Camp Aguinaldo.  The fit is circa 1996.

Thanks to Sir Jepot, Weekend_Warrior, JKrn for giving me the inspiration to complete this build.   Also a big thanks to Coupmander Yoda for the guide image he sent me for this build.

... just to give some forum members on how small (or cute) Scorpion CVR(T) is...

Phil Army's 4LAC Scorpion with a 1LAB AIFV...

And for those who wants to have buy US$3M+ M2A3 Bradley to replace our AIFVs/M113 fleet, here's a treat on how large and wide Bradley is for our narrow roads and valleys...

Sweet.

Are the weld marks on the side of the turret part of the kit itself, or did you add them?

Sir Adz -- it's part of the kit.

What I modified were :
1. Rear portion of vehicle : from a single central towing bracket into two separate towing brackets, plus the third 'brake light'
2. Fittings of accessories on quarter rear starboard of the turret
3. Quarter rear port antenna mount -- antenna post removed
4. No Pioneer tools were installed.  Added were just the mounting brackets.
5. Exhaust tube of muffle -- lengthened.

Sir Jepz -- THANKS for the complement.  Medyo paunti-unti.  Yung decal medyo sablay.  The decal paper can't hold the vinyl paint, so what came out wasn't as crisp as I wanted, but barely good enough and much better than letter transfer...

You deserve the complement; as for the decals, well better than nothing at trail and error nga eh..

Hi all,

40niner,

EXCELLENT work on your PA LADiv Scorpion!  Bravo

I noticed the extra details you added: armored cover for the mantlet, front towing rings, brackets for missing tools, port antennae removed, extended exhaust; and lastly, the scratch built later model rear hull towing brackets  thumbs up

Great job, the PA markings really bring out the model nicely.

More power!

Thanks guys for all the nice comments!

Right On -- WeekendWarrior...

Interesting delays I had in completing this unit.  First I ran out of flat black -- but had to make do with nato black mixed on a semi gloss black.  Another is when my SprayWorks conked out -- had to ask my friend to lend me his.  And finally was the decal -- I had to custom make it; though it wasn't as crisp -- I find it more acceptable than the nerve-wracking-hair-pulling letter transfers Smile

The final flat coating toned down the overall hue of the painting...

The application of the markings (decals) was the easiest... It was the actual thought process on how to ultimately do away with Letter-Transfers.

I first laid-out the text (on a graphic manipulation software Macromedia Freehand) and look for the font that approximates the actual markings on the photo.  I converted them into vector objects from true-type fonts so that I can manipulate each text one by one.

Since I didn't have a printer that can print white text or object, I had thought of silk-screen printing.

I printed the laid-out text into a normal book paper using laser printer.  This "master" was use as photographic template on a silk-screen #305.  I had a t-shirt printer did this.

The decal sheet used was for laser printer, and in the experiment, the silk-screened white vinyl paint didn't stick in crisp manner.  Seemed like the decal sheet was relatively 'oily'.  I don't know how a decal sheet for inkjet would fare.  Maybe Homer or TausugAir can comment.

After an hour, I applied the printed decal just like a kit-based one.  I applied very tiny amount of solvaset, and sealed it later with clear flat.

If I may just suggest something to add on........how about an oxygen tank painted green, bright green, mounted on the front to immortalize a truly Filipino innovation/ add on to the tank.  Shocked

There was once a picture of a Scorpion with such contraption herewith many moons back.
