PAF early jets WIP...

hey folks,

got a binge going for some PAF jets for a change after my recent trip to the PAF museum park sparked this off......

the kits are:

1/72 hasegawa T-33A shooting star;

> just finished scribing the panel lines for this kit as it has raised panel lines eventhough it was released in 2002...lots of flashing and fitting revealed gaps and warped joints...the cockpit needed some side panels to complete the cokpit tub...this is my first major scribing project as well...

1/72 italeri F-86F sabre jet;

> lovely kit though the nose and intake section needed some major sanding and re-scribing of panel lines...fitting is quite good except for the wing/fuselage connection but nothing a bit of super glue and  baby powder won't seal up, files and sanded down...

1/72 hasegawa F-86D sabre dog;
> circa 1996 but with recessed panel lines, fitting so far is good...detail is just amazing...

all these kits are "tail-sitters" which is solved by using lead airgun bullet counterweights superglued in the nose section...

still haven't figured out the final color scheme, though these would generally be in BMF...

I don't know about the sabre dog but the other two kits IMO are dogs. The scribing job is a lot of work. Good luck. Maybe you'll have better luck and skill than I do.

hey mb,

scribing is a lot less initimidating now that i've figured out the technique...it's all about patience starting from light tracing and then heavier and heavier strokes with a needle or scalpel knife and just sanded down to level it off...

The T-33 you are working on right now was in the 1983 Hasegawa catalog.  ...It's a really old kit.

This is one aircraft that deserves the attention of companies like Trumpeter and Hobby Boss; same with the T-28 of Heller.

sanded, skewered and primed...

managed to do some work on the jets only yesterday as i was out-station the whole of last week...

a lot of test and dry fitting was done with these kits as these were not as straightforward as far as fitting is concerned...some trimming, sanding and re-scribing panel lines specially at the nose, engine intakes and wing/fuselage assembly connections were needed...

the T-33 needed the most work of all...but it's coming along great...

400, 1000 grit sandpaper and a polishing stick were used for the general sanding and then gunze mr hobby 1000 white was used for primer coating...the polishing stick was really great in smoothening the sanded and rough primed areas...

that's it for now folks...
