The Philippine Marines now has three LVTs back in service, with a couple more in the works. The second in-progress vehicle is being restored by PMC reservists (who own their own machine shops) -- who reportedly volunteered time and resources for the project.

So far the LVTH6s I've seen brought back to service have been painted in urban camouflage. Does this mean that the vehicles are intended to be kept in Metro Manila so that the Marines' other armoured assets can be used in Mindanao?

Another example of reservists, particularly Affiliated Reserve units, helping the AFP

From Manokski (PS36 Post upgrade pic thread)

On another note, I heard that the PN was assigning crewmen aboard civilian ships that have similar engines to the Jacintos to train them in maintenance.

From Pachada (Can the PMMA help with the PN's training needs thread)

yes, its true. the PN sends sailors to train aboard WG@A ships because their ships also use Pielstick engines which is same as the peacock class. WG@A has agreement with PN. in fact WG@A is part of PNARU together with Aboitiz supercat ferries.

An interesting attempt to catalog reservists' skills on PDFF

Reservist, what's your specialty?

yes, those reservists are from 4MBDE who undergo armor schooling. Specialized schoolings for regular Marines are open to reservist Marines. anyway, they said, we only have the Philippine Marines, walang regular or reserve. Very Happy

As part of making the Marine Brigade Reserve combat ready, Officers, NCO's and EP's of 4MBDE participated in various military exercises of the Philippine Marine Corps, such as Pagsasama, Pagsisikap, CARAT and Balikatan. Added thereto, we have annual Marine Ready Reserve Operational Training (MRROT) and conduct medical mission all over the archipelago where a Marine Unit operates, often in Jolo, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi.
