a continuation of this thread:

http://timawa.net/forum/index.php?topic=2919.0

finally finished the kit!

Initially  projected to be LT 504, but some changes had to occur as noted, but finally this came out as the finished product ( note: its not 100% accurate for the LT 501, some minor discrepancies; bear with the rather crude attempts to make it more, well, shiplike...) :

fore starboard view

aft port view

aft starboard view

crudely built 20mm guns, scratchbuilt, prior to mounting and painting

fantail- note the anchor with chain

the first well, complete ship ive built in ages- thought id never get to finish it...

trivia on the 501: formerly the LST 230, it served in the Normandy landings , so this is a rather historical ship; its still in active service in the PN, as a matter of fact, the other day, it transported ROTC, PMMA and MAAP cadets for their Summer Shipboard Training to Naval Base Cavite...

Hey Jepot,

Have you seen this pic that I have of LT501 that shows the location of 20mm guns midships?  Are those guns still there.  This is an old picture.

Very Nice Model Jepot!

The needs and interests of the Filipino is primary while that of foreigners is secondary.
However, some Filipinos are still uneasy about this and would rather be the apologists or defenders of foreign interests.

Manokski,

thank you for your compliments; yes, the 20mm guns amidships are still there; saw the 501 a year or so ago up close in Zambo; the two 20mm guns at the front of the superstructure are the rather incorrect gun locations i was referring to...

This model is also featured at Model Warships. com

The link:  http://www.modelshipgallery.com/gallery/am/lst/lt501-245-jp/jp-index.html

Compared to the pics here, the ship proudly waves the Philippine and PN Ensigns; first time i believe a ship model flying our colors is seen in these pages...
