Check the front wheel of the V150.  Looks like a Simba tire.  The Simba with the 25mm cannon looks like it has the larger V150 tires.

 Shocked

Armoured vehicles with Philippine army arrive at the Philippine military headquarters in Camp Aguinnaldo, 24 February 2006 to bolster security after brigadier general Danilo Lim and two other officers were relieved and detained for allegedly seeking to join protests for the ouster of President Gloria Arroyo. The chief of staff of Arroyo has said at least eight other military men and civilians were being hunted for possible involvement in the effort to oust Arroyo. is it because of the simba's heavier turret which needs bigger tires?

also, is the aifv-recovery armed? i'm not sure but i think i saw on tv a gun of some sort installed in its cupola.....

radio reports said that the armored column was composed of 8 apc's, 1 tank, 2 hummvees, and 6x6 truck.... gma's aerial footage of the convoy seem to bear this out

Actually the simba and V150 have the same rim size.
GKN Alvis used one size smaller tires for the SIMBA.

When the AFP bought new tires for the V300s and V150s  Michelin XLZ after Central Mindanao 2000.  Someone forgot to get new tires for the SIMBAs.  Smart mechanics recomended to their COs that they were the same rim size and the V150 tires could fit on the SIMBA.  Did the larger tires rub on the wheel wells at full turn?  I don't know and did not notice any wear when I first noticed them.

It seems to be the other way around at the PA LBde. Smaller tires on the V150.  Like using smaller tires on a street car up front to make it "look faster"!?!    If they place a complete set of 4 new tires on a Commando for a "Low Rider" look....

That's the AIFV recovery vehicle made by FNSS of Turkey.

The unit came from 1ACT ( Armored Cav Troop?) of LABDE based on the stencils...

The armored infantry troops have a LABDE patch on 1 side of their helmets and the PA seal on the other...

The AIFV (R) is armed with a .50 HMG just like the ACAV cupola of the M113...

The Simba withn the big turret as you described is armed with the 25mm Oerlikon gun as what the AIFV has- good for anti air defense...

The V150s are the V150S or stretched- as evidenced by the different rear hull compared to a standard V150...

Kabayan, just curious. No marine forces were visible during the February 24, 2006 witch hunting by PGMA.  Does that conclude many questions? Salamat!

this is what the marines are up to.... apparently, an "internal affair" got blew up out of proportion by panicky abs-cbn reporters, leftist militants, a misinformed querubin beseeching for "help from the people", and politicians including cory, panfilo, guingona, noynoy, and other vultures who tried pathetically to enter fort bonifacio and be seen by the tv cameras......

Marine Col. Ariel Querubin is secorted by supporters at marine headquarters in Manila, Philippines, on Sunday, Feb. 26, 2006. Querubin, named by the military Friday as a key figure in plans by marine officers and their troops to withdraw support for Arroyo, said he was joining Maj. Gen. Renato Miranda, who was relieved as commandant of the marines, in the marines camp chapel in a show of support. (AP Photo/Aaron Favila)

....guess who the guy on the left is.......

Philippine Marine tank rolls back to the barracks at the Marine headquarters in Manila February 26, 2006. About 100 elite Philippine troops openly defied the government and its emergency rule on Sunday, calling for public support after a Marines commander was removed over an alleged plot to oust President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. Philippine Marines arrive to take their position at the entrance to their headquarters at Ft. Bonifacio, east of Manila, following the unannounced relief of its commander Maj.Gen.Renato Miranda Sunday Feb. 26, 2006. The headquarters was a scene of chaos Sunday as a marines colonel urged people to turn out en masse to protect officers implicated in a foiled coup plot after the head of the elite unit was relieved of duties. It was a clear sign that efforts to oust President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo remained alive two days after she imposed a state of emergency. (AP Photo/Vincent Yu)

Marine troopers wait for commands at marine headquarters in Manila, Philippines, Sunday Feb. 26, 2006. A potential threat to President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo's leadership ended peacefully after disgruntled marine officers agreed to end a five-hour standoff that started when their commander was relieved of duties. MEANWHILE.....

U.S. Marine lance Cpl. Zamale King from the 31st Marine Expedition Unit talks to children evacuee as they wait for their helicopter at the school compound Sunday, Feb. 26, 2006, in St. Bernard town in Southern Leyte province, southeast of Manila. The Marines were withdrawing most of their forces after Philippine officials announced the end of the search for survivors. (AP Photo/Pat Roque)

and yet obvious millions was spent on the food, logisics, banners, transportation, allowances of those rallying in makati, manila, and quezon city..... like what the governor of leyte said...... THESE PEOPLE ARE SELFISH.... that includes "be-medalled" querubin who dragged down the entire country of millions of filipinos just so he can air his personal gripe against his boss.....

maybe this can answer your post as to why there were no marine units visible on 24 Feb 06- read the quoted post from another thread...

from the other thread.....

Quote from: mblt6
Col Querubins brigade is in Marawi City. The CSS Brigade - the core of the Marine Ready Force is the only Brigade in Manila. They refused to participate and was geared to repel the SAF and SR units. They were suppose to consolidate in Marine Barracks and march of to the EDSA shrine 0400h thinking the Marines will join them.  The Brigade turned down thier offer of joining and hence the SR n SAF did not leave thier base.  Gen Lim and Col Querubin together entered Marine Barracks 0100h. You'll read more about it in the papers as the fogs clear.

which basically means the marine ready force did their job, while the scout rangers and the pnp-saf destroyed their dignity and reputations by allowing themselves to get manipulated by peping and his ilk.....

That's good news...

I feel bad for the EPs... ginagawa silang bala sa kanyon nang mga politiko...

So di Col. Querubin have men from the CCS BDE when he walked into the PMC HQ?

Also, who took Gen Lim's place as cmdr of the 1st SR regiment?

Let's pray that most of our units will be as prudent as the PMRF. I agree with the state of emergency declaration. Ultra rightist forces should be neutralized. We've put up with them for too long now. Like the other post said, they are too selfish. They want to impose their political theories on everyone even if it entails having soldiers kill one another. They seem oblivious to the fact that the leftists and other lawless elements will be the ones who benefit from this.

I also hope that the media is silenced until they find reporters, columnists, and editors who are less ignorant. There can be positive things to put in headlines, but they just keep on harping on trivial things.

One final note, its ironic how people in the streets are always complaining about how corrupt public officers are --- after they've accepted money from binay and company to go and protest...
