I would like to ask for informations about the AFP's program of self sufficiency in military hardware, particularly in armoured vehicles.  I understand that local designers have come up with a design for a local armoured personnel carrier (APC) I think they named it Kalakian and previous to that there was the Haridigma.  It is good for our local arms industry that they can come up with designs that meets the specifications and requirements of the AFP and the government should support them by procuring these weapon systems.  I'm sure they will be a whole lot cheaper than imported ones.

What we should do now is fully exploit the borderless global economy to improve our technological base by tying up with defense companies around the world and incorporating their technology in our indigenously designed weapons.  It can be done here as it is being done all over the world.  I should be made a routine for the foreign trips of the president to discuss technology transfers with host nations that are meant to improve our military industrial base but the overall industrial capability of the Philippines.

Kalakian APCs are not, as of now, in service.

Pardon if I replied a little late...
