More gun trucks are on the way to Basilan. Photos made available 4-15

These follow the same template used for the Talisman 2

Are those shields just checkered steel plates? or do they have armor plates or composites at the back of that?

In the original design, they reportedly had tempered steel plates put together as spaced armor. This is probably an improvement over that . . . if not more of the same.

also observed on the talisman and these two additional gun trucks, the gasoline tank is a soft target, putting armor covering would be a good add-on...... thumbs up

Isn't this an OVERRATED Hollywood myth?

If a bullet is shot through the fuel tank of a car, it will explode.
busted
The gas tank did not explode.

REVISITED: A gas tank will explode when shot by a bullet. (From episode 15)

busted

It has already been proven that when shot by a normal bullet a gasoline tank will not explode. However, if a gasoline tank is shot by a tracer round from a great enough distance so that the round can ignite with air friction, it will cause the gasoline to catch fire. By the time this happened the tank was so riddled with bullets (from previous tracers that were fired too close to ignite) that there was no contained pressure, but the MythBusters surmised that had the tank been properly enclosed, it may have exploded; but overall it remains extremely improbable.

Yes, diesel is not flammable.  You can drop a lighted match into diesel and it will just go out.

RPG could make the diesel tank explode. but we don' t have any protection from rpg at the moment. i recommend they put armor slats along the gas tank as protection. its cheap and around 60% effective.

Diesel is actually more dangerous when ignited since it burns for a longer amount of time. pyrotechnic experts usually mix diesel to gasoline to make the explosion / fireball larger and more dramatic.

you are all right on this one, no one says it will explode, but tanks riddled with bullets will surely empty its content making the vehicle stationary and thereby become target, eventually you need another vehicle to tow it out afterwards if ever it survives after the encounter.......

you dont need to enclosed it a plate shield will do....... Smile

Try throwing diesel on an open flame.... RPG should have similar effects since it uses a jet of flame to penetrate steel.
can anyone confirm this with any available literature?

Most diesel MBTs now use explosion resistant fuel tanks.

what cal. are those HMG? I noticed that they have a limited angle/field of firing if those gun plates(if that's what you call them) are fixed on the sides. Even if they are not fixed,  they have little angle or space to traverse the guns, they would hit the sides of the truck. Am I wrong with this observation?

I noticed that they are using the old .30 cal machinegun. Why? Its cheaper or thats more realiable. Or thats what they have. They have already the squad automatic weapons, or the M-60.

Guns are not fixed to their mounts. They can be replaced with whatever is available.
